A BOOZY BRUNCH WITH PA

Project Agape's annual brunch aims to create a space for Black women in Ottawa to build community, access collective healing and support. We have been hosting this brunch for 3 years and every year, we see our community of Black survivors grow even more. This brunch makes time for networking but also focuses time for a panel discussion. In our most recent panel discussion, we hosted a conversation about Black women, trauma and mental health.

PAINT X PLANT

Project Agape's Annual Paint x Plant event is an important event for us when we think about survivor wellness in our community. This event, usually celebrating our anniversary, is a time dedicated to hosting a wellness centred decompression space for survivors. This space hopes to be a safe and brave space that connects community members to healing in a way that focuses on direct relationships with the earths and sourcing healing and safety from the earth, while painting, which can be therapeutic for a lot of people. This event was created to raise awareness in our community and offer support as October is Domestic Violence Awareness month. The event will offer a safe space for folks to learn, paint and connect with the Earth.

PERIOD POVERTY

Project Agape has been working on providing individuals in Ottawa with menstrual care and hygiene products since our founding. As a group of menstrators who have experienced the rise in sales of menstrual products, especially for a necessity that we have to have every month. We have prepared menstrual care packages for survivors in women's shelters and survivor support charities for 3 years and we hope to be able to continue our efforts. We have been able to do this through the support of Youth Action Now, Rising Youth and Groundswell Fund

MENTAL WELLNESS WITH PROJECT AGAPE

In 2022, Project Agape launched a wellness check-in for Black survivors. This space is focused on promoting mental wellness in our community. It will be a safe space for Black women and gender-diverse individuals to check-in mentally and utilize the tools provided by a Black therapist in the Ottawa Community.

LET IT HEAL, THE COHORT

Let it Heal is a 6-week hybrid wellness series for Black individuals in the Ottawa/Gatineau area. This cohort is our first ever closed programming and we are excited to create a space to explore growth, community healing and wellness for Black women and Black gender-diverse people.

This cohort was created in honor, celebration and to uplift Black folks, in the Ottawa/Gatineau area. Every event, community engagement and wellness initiative has led us to creating this cohort for Black folks, by Black folks. It will serve as a time of community nourishment, mental empowerment and collective healing exclusively for Black women and Black gender-diverse people. This is a chance for you to meet like minded people who are exploring their own journeys with wellness and growth. Our facilitators will range from Black psychotherapists to Black sexperts, Black community leaders and Black wellness coaches.

Funded by the Ontario Trillium Foundation, this program is free for all participants. Exclusive to Black women and Black gender-diverse people.

Participants can expect access to goodies and care packages, bus tickets and transportation, child care stipends, as well as exclusive sessions with Black psychotherapists and sexperts!
