LOVE STARTS WITH YOU

Project Agape is a Black, survivor-led organization that was founded and is run by Black survivors who aim to educate on all aspects of gender-based violence and support and promote wellness in survivors. This is done through resources, educational and wellness workshops. We work in space that is survivor-centred, Black-centred and trauma informed in order to promote community building, education and survivor advocacy, advocating for Black women and gender diverse individuals.

In the spirit of respect, reciprocity, truth and reconciliation, as immigrant settlers on Turtle Island, Project Agape honours and acknowledges the work we do is being done on the unceded, unsurrendered Territory of the Anishinaabe Algonquin Nation whose presence here reaches back to time immemorial.

A LITTLE ABOUT US

COMMUNITY BUILDING AND SUPPORT

Our founder is a Black woman who struggled to get support as a Black survivor, due to the fact that none of the people she was referred to, had shared experiences with her. She felt isolated, alone and frustrated. It occured to her that a lot of other Black folks may also be feeling this way. Project Agape continues efforts create new and innovative ways to be able to support our community. We aim to support and develop our community through creating spaces for our community to build and heal.

OUTREACH AND EDUCATION

We take every task our organization performs as a means of creating increased awareness and public understanding about the issues we aim to aid. We focus a large part of our work on educational and wellness workshops in order to educate youth through preventive methods and support survivors. We are invested in an innovative approach that empowers our community and delivers the support they need, when they need it.
